The SpaceX IPO is set to be the largest in history, which will likely draw massive mainstream attention to the entire space industry. When a single company dominates the news with a record-breaking event, investors often buy up smaller competitors and partners in the same sector to ride the wave. Because SpaceX's valuation is so high, retail investors might look for cheaper ways to invest in the space economy, driving up the prices of already-public satellite and space tech companies.
Strategy approach
Build a long strategy for a basket of space and satellite stocks (GSAT, ILMN, IRDM) on a daily timeframe. Enter when the basket's average daily volume increases by at least 50% over a 5-day average and the price crosses above the 20-day simple moving average. Exit if the price drops 8% from the entry point, or after a maximum holding period of 30 calendar days.
