Apple overtaking Nvidia signals a market shift: investors are rewarding companies that profit from AI without the capital-expenditure arms race. As rising interest rates make borrowing for massive data center buildouts more expensive, the bill for pure-play AI hardware companies grows while platform companies like Apple and Alphabet (with its cloud strength) collect the downstream revenue. This creates a relative-value trade where low-capex mega-caps outperform the high-capex chip and infrastructure names that dominated the first half of 2026.
Strategy approach
Build a swing-trading strategy that goes long AAPL and GOOG on the daily timeframe when the 10-year Treasury yield rises above its 20-day high (signaling rising rate pressure). Entry: place a limit order at the previous day's close when 10Y yield closes at a 20-day high. Exit: take profit at 4% gain or cut at 3% loss, with a max hold of 15 trading days.
