Record diesel prices mean refiners that are still running earn huge margins on every barrel they process, and that windfall shows up directly in their earnings. At the same time, the war-driven scramble to reroute crude has sent tanker freight rates soaring, and that trade has been the single biggest winner of the shock so far. Unlike buying crude itself, refiners and shippers profit from the disruption lasting, not from any one price level. Even political pressure to stop attacks on Russian refineries doesn't fix the shipping chaos, so the setup has staying power beyond headlines.
