That weakness lands at the worst possible moment: Asian shares are already wavering with oil climbing and global borrowing costs rising ahead of the Fed and Bank of Japan decisions, plus the worldwide AI-led tech selloff is dragging risk appetite lower everywhere. Chinese consumer-exposed names have been held up mainly by stimulus hopes, and a headline miss like this removes that excuse.
