When two different supply routes are threatened at the same time, crude oil has multiple reasons to stay elevated or rise. Big integrated oil companies like Exxon and Chevron profit directly from higher crude, and their share prices have historically outperformed during supply-shock periods. With stocks broadly pressured by rate fears, energy offers a way to own something that benefits from the same forces hurting the rest of the market.
