Miner stocks are supposed to be leveraged bets on Bitcoin's price, so when the coin is flat but the miners drop 6%, the miners are losing their premium — often a sign of excess speculation unwinding. If Bitcoin stays near $79,500, there's no fundamental reason for miners to recover quickly, so the gap tends to close with miners drifting lower relative to the coin. This decoupling is a cleaner signal than shorting Bitcoin itself, which is holding firm.
