When shipping companies have to bribe crews with half a year's extra pay to cross a strait, you know supply routes are genuinely scared. Goldman's $120 call tells us the market is starting to price in the scenario where these disruptions don't resolve quickly. Oil may have dipped recently on peace talk, but the physical risk premium is being rebuilt in real-time as long as shippers can't staff their routes. Going long oil ETFs or major producers captures the upside if Goldman's scenario plays out, while limiting single-stock risk.
Strategy approach
Build a rule-based strategy entering long USO on D1 when WTI crude oil prices close above their 20-day high while breadth on oil majors (XOM, CVX) confirms with a >2% daily gain. Hold up to 21 days with a 7% trailing stop.
