Investors are rapidly losing confidence in sky-high valuations for companies that build AI tech, leading to steep drops across computer chip and server manufacturers. When fear hits this sector, it tends to cascade as Wall Street funds pull their money out to lock in earlier profits. With major market averages already trending downward for the week and Asian markets set to open lower, the selling pressure is spreading globally. This combination of broken confidence and broader market weakness suggests the recent slide in these tech names has further to fall.
Strategy approach
Build a rule-based momentum strategy on D1 timeframe. Enter short SMCI, AVGO, and AMD when price breaks below the lower 20-day Bollinger Band on high relative volume, and the overall tech sector (XLK) is trending below its 10-day moving average. Exit the trade if price closes back above the 10-day moving average, or enforce a strict 10-trading-day maximum hold period.
