Company-specific drops that happen during a sector-wide rout often overshoot, because sellers dump everything rather than picking apart which business is actually at risk. Buying quality suppliers after a sharp single-day plunge, while the longer trend is still intact, is a classic way to harvest that overshoot. The trade is betting on the stock recovering toward its recent average once the panic passes, not on the AI debate resolving.
