The Fed's unanimous rate hike and 'higher for longer' message pushed bond prices down around the world overnight, with Asian bonds selling off as the dollar jumped. The 10-year yield at 5% — the highest in years — shows long-term borrowing costs are still rising, and long-term bond ETFs like TLT fall in price every time that happens. With the Fed explicitly promising more hikes, there's little reason for long-term yields to fall soon, so long-duration bonds keep bleeding. Shorting TLT is the cleanest way to position for rates staying painfully high.
