July's inflation number came in exactly on forecast, which handed the Fed room to defend its existing outlook and let traders slash the odds of a September rate hike — stocks rallied on the relief. With the data now out of the way, the next big market-moving moment is a speech from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, and Wall Street is so focused on it that analysts are dissecting one key phrase. When almost everyone has already bought stocks on good news, even slightly tougher wording from the Fed chair can knock prices down hard, while softer wording could launch another leg up.
