Thesis
The market is treating the Iran ceasefire proposal as if the oil risk premium is evaporating, but two major physical supply risks remain. Chevron actively shutting down a Gulf of Mexico platform removes real barrels from the market today, and the Houthis are still threatening Saudi shipping routes regardless of any U.S.-Iran deal. On top of this, the inflation data out of New Zealand shows fuel-driven price increases are already accelerating globally—meaning underlying energy demand remains strong. The selloff is pricing in a best-case scenario that hasn't happened yet.
