A $1.2 trillion market-cap loss before results are even out is the market telegraphing that something is fundamentally broken at SpaceX. When investors dump a stock this hard ahead of earnings, they are pricing in a disappointment so severe that even a mediocre report might not stop the bleeding. The pre-earnings selloff typically feeds on itself — the closer the report gets, the more nervous holders bail.
