Broad tariffs on 60 countries threaten to disrupt overseas tech supply chains, particularly for components made in Asia. At the same time, Samsung and SK Hynix landing major new supply deals with US tech giants shows domestic demand for chips is only accelerating. As trade barriers rise, companies will scramble to lock in supply, which is incredibly bullish for US-based memory chip makers like Micron who can offer tariff-sheltered inventory.
Strategy approach
Build a rule-based strategy that enters long MX and MICRON-RELATED ETFs (e.g. SOXX, SMH) on D1 when the VIX rises above 20 (signaling tariff fear) and memory-chip spot pricing (via proprietary data feeds or MX proxy price action) shows a 5-day uptick. Hold for up to 21 days with a 6% trailing stop.
