A pipeline outage threatening 4% of global supply plus Houthi control of Bab al-Mandeb means oil cannot flow the normal ways — it must detour on tankers around the Arabian Peninsula instead of cutting through, sharply increasing ton-miles and tanker day rates even beyond the crude price spike itself. Unlike the already-published oil-major idea, tanker companies often benefit more and faster in supply shocks because freight rates can multiply while producers' gains are capped by hedging and potential output loss. With crude already back above $100 and two separate chokepoints compromised at once, tanker equities offer leveraged exposure to the disruption persisting.
