Political interference in a utility merger almost always causes an immediate overreaction in the stock price as arbitrage funds bail on the deal. However, the underlying reason this merger exists in the first place — exploding electricity demand from AI data centers — is only getting stronger. If the deal eventually goes through with conditions, NextEra rallies; if it breaks entirely, NextEra is still the dominant player in a market where power demand is insatiable. The panic selling creates a buying opportunity in a company with guaranteed long-term demand.
