With the 10-year government borrowing rate at a 19-year high, mortgage costs are punishing buyers and homebuilder stocks like Lennar have slumped — that's the bear case everyone can see. But Buffett is famous for buying solid businesses exactly when sentiment is worst, and Berkshire has nearly doubled its Lennar stake since July. When the world's most patient value investor is adding while everyone else flees, the downside is likely more priced in than the upside. A staged long entry lets you average into capitulation and ride any yield stabilization, which would be a double catalyst for housing stocks.
