Three separate signals line up: a Bloomberg survey says climbing yields threaten a significant stock-market blow, BofA flags that money is leaving US stocks while everyone stays complacent, and Reuters reports the bond selloff is now spreading enough that lenders are demanding higher payments. When borrowing costs rise this fast, the most expensive parts of the market — tech-heavy indexes — feel it first, and investor outflows remove the buying support underneath them. Buying volatility protection alongside a short index position captures the payoff whether the drop comes as a grind or a gap. The trade has a clear invalidation: yields stalling and rolling over.
