Pimco, one of the world's largest bond managers, is telling investors that the market's panic over inflation is overdone and that current yields make bonds an attractive buy. At the exact same time, the International Energy Agency is forecasting a massive drop in global oil demand because high fuel prices are forcing people to use less energy. If oil demand is truly cratering, fuel costs will come down, which kills the inflation scare and lets interest rates fall. When interest rates fall, the value of existing bonds goes up, rewarding anyone who bought them while everyone else was still panicking.
