Unlike oil, where a ceasefire could crater prices overnight, defense contractors get multi-year backlog benefits from any escalation, since governments sign procurement contracts that stick around. This makes them a more durable way to own the war-risk theme than energy stocks, whose move may already be priced in. With the Fed also hiking into this uncertainty, defense names' long-dated government contracts and steady demand give the trade a defensive cushion too.
