Feds just legalized crypto perpetual futures in the U.S. — Coinbase is first in line to cash in
U.S. regulators just gave the green light for crypto perpetual futures — a hugely popular trading product — to be offered on American exchanges. Coinbase is first in line to launch them.
Idea
Perpetual futures are the most-traded crypto product in the world, but until now Americans had to use offshore exchanges to access them. The CFTC just changed that, and Coinbase — already a trusted U.S. platform — got immediate approval to offer them. This opens up an entirely new revenue stream that could meaningfully boost Coinbase's trading fees. When a company gets regulatory clearance to sell a product its customers already want, the stock usually responds. The timing is especially good because Bitcoin ETFs have been bleeding funds, meaning traders may prefer the leverage of perpetuals instead.
