US just greenlit crypto perps for American exchanges — buy Coinbase before the launch
The main US derivatives regulator just said crypto perpetual futures — the most popular crypto trading product worldwide — can now be offered on American platforms like Coinbase. Until now, almost all of this trading happened overseas.
Idea
Perpetual futures account for the vast majority of crypto trading volume globally, but until now they've been legally limited to offshore exchanges. The CFTC just changed that, and Coinbase is already positioned to launch these products for US customers. This opens up a huge new revenue stream that was previously unavailable domestically. Even though Bitcoin ETFs have been bleeding lately, this specific regulatory win is a direct earnings catalyst for Coinbase that isn't yet reflected in the stock. The risk is that actual product rollout timing is uncertain.
